And it had had no sponsors and it died after one term. And I read the bill and it was a national ma<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ndate\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">cover<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ing\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">fertility treatment<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. A<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">nd I said,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">that's<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0a start. It would be, as they say, a game changer. If there was a national mandate, there\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">wouldn't<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0have to be all these different groups around the country fighting for coverage in their state. So yeah, it was a really great place to start.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Risa Levine:<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I downloaded certain statistics from the CDC about success rates and participation rates, etc. And I downloaded information about the cost of IVF cycles, and, and the success rates and you know, I put together an information package. And I asked people on the support boards to send me their stories that I thought were particularly sympathetic. And I basically went to political events or all kinds of things. They then worked on a bill that would give a tax credit to those spending money on fertility treatments. And that one\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">actually got<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0into language in the Tax Reform Act. But unfortunately, the Tax Reform Act itself fell through. But while they were working on these bills, they were building something lasting.
