More than 60% plan to use assisted reproductive technology or fertility treatments.<\/p>\n<p>The desire for parenthood is independent of sexuality or gender identity and there are many different paths to parenthood. Thanks to assisted reproductive technology, there are many options available for biological family building for LGBTQ+ individuals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cis-gender female(\/s): Artificial vaginal insemination, IUI, IVF, <a href=\"https:\/\/progyny.com\/education\/lgbtq-family-building\/reciprocal-ivf-same-sex-relationships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reciprocal IVF<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Cis-gender male(\/s): <a href=\"https:\/\/progyny.com\/education\/lgbtq-family-building\/what-can-i-learn-about-sperm-donors-to-help-me-find-the-right-donor-for-me\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Known or anonymous egg donor<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/progyny.com\/education\/surrogacy-adoption\/what-is-surrogacy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gestational surrogacy<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Trans individuals: <a href=\"https:\/\/progyny.com\/education\/lgbtq-family-building\/fertility-faq-transgendered-men-and-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tissue cryopreservation<\/a>, treatments dependent on stage of transition and partner status<\/li>\n<li>Adoption and foster-to-adopt are also pathways for everyone. They require counseling and support from an experienced mental health professional and a <a href=\"https:\/\/progyny.com\/podcast\/episode-7\/\">reproductive attorney<\/a> to secure and protect parental rights<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As members of the community consider the ways they can build their families, employers really have to consider how they can support them. Many people make great sacrifices in order to afford it. Without inclusive and comprehensive fertility coverage, some couples take out mortgages on their homes, dip into their savings, or are forced to work multiple jobs to build their families.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s worth noting the family building options that some employers offer for the LGBTQ+ community are something to celebrate. And, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.willistowerswatson.com\/en-US\/Insights\/2020\/05\/employers-prioritize-family-friendly-benefits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Willis Towers Watson\u2019s 2020 Emerging Trends in Health Care Survey<\/a>, employers are prioritizing family-friendly benefits to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace.<\/p>\n<p>Why are employers focused on these type of benefits? To attract and retain talent, and support broader organizational goals.
