We have been experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic for over a year now, and although some things have returned to normality, we are still facing high death tolls and seeing unprecedented challenges to healthcare. Progyny has been operating throughout, and our Patient Care Advocates have been providing dedicated emotional support. First and foremost, we are committed to the safety and well-being of our members. We have been working tirelessly to verify clinics are operating safely, and members have the knowledge to make informed decisions. Fertility Coverage is Essential Medicine<\/h4>\n

When the pandemic first enveloped the United States in mid-March 2020, most fertility clinics stopped new treatments save for oncofertility, in accordance with state stay-at-home orders and American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) guidance. However, not long afterwards, on April 24, 2020, ASRM updated its recommendations and confirmed what we all knew to be true; fertility treatments are essential medicine. Since then most clinics have fully opened, albeit with new safety protocols in place. Both providers and patients adapted quickly and professionally, and clinics have returned to their full range of services and treatments, now with added telehealth consultations.<\/p>\n

What’s Next?<\/h4>\n

The FDA has fully approved the Pfizer vaccine<\/a> to protect against COVID-19. Both Johnson & Johnson and Moderna are FDA approved for emergency use. The vaccines are incredible tools to fight COVID-19, but as with any medical decision, it\u2019s imperative to talk to your doctor about whether the vaccine is right for you. It is essential to continue to wear a mask and social distance, even as vaccines roll out. Until we reach a level of hard immunity from vaccines and those that have recovered from the virus, social distancing and mask-wearing will save lives. In the meantime, remember to follow CDC guidelines<\/a>\u00a0to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. Measures include washing your hands often and for at least 20 seconds; cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces like doorknobs, light switches, and phones; covering coughs and sneezes; and avoiding close contact by staying at least 6 feet away from people and staying home where possible.<\/p>\n
